4 Days: Puerto Varas

Puerto Varas, is your gateway to this area in Southern Chile. The “City of Roses” is located on the shores of calm Lake Llanquihue with amazing views of the distant volcanoes. This area was settled by German immigrants bringing their culture and architecture.
Day 1 - Arrive Puerto Montt – Puerto Varas

Flight Santiago de Chile - Puerto Montt (Not included)
To take the excursion below on scheduled flights you should be arrive in Puerto Montt between 08:00 AM and 12:00 PM. If you do not meet this schedule you will have to consider a private excursion with additional charges. Once in Puerto Montt, we will take you to your hotel located in Puerto Varas. Located on the shore of Lake Llanquihue, Puerto Varas is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Chile. With a clear German influence, whose settlers founded it in the mid-nineteenth century, since its inception it has been characterized by its tourist focus. Today it offers the traveler a beautiful landscape, good hotel and gastronomic infrastructure, a modern gaming casino, a lake beach and, in summer, various cultural activities in the open air.
Half day excursion in Llanquihue & Frutillar
We start our trip to Frutillar, first visiting the city of Llanquihue, famous for their sausages, and it is where Maullin River begins, and this area is part of the ancient Route of Settlers. In the city we visit the Memorial to the German Colonists, and then we will continue along the Llanquihue Lake to the Frutillar city. This city is a beautiful village that recalls the old Bavaria, from there were the first settlers who arrived to this area. The city started in 1856 as a boarding pier, soon appeared tanneries, mills, breweries, etc. We will walk around its beautiful old houses of German style, admiring the gardens and incomparable views of the volcanoes Osorno and Puntiagudo. As an option, passengers can go to the German Colonial Museum which portrays the life of the settlers, and at the lake shore, observe the Teatro del Lago (Lake Theatre) here each year is presented the famous Frutillar Musical Week , that is a Summer Festival, presents classic music from Chile and abroad that offer each year, approximately 40 concerts

Day 2 - Puerto Varas
Half day excursion – Tour of Osorno Volcano We begin our tour from Puerto Varas “The City of the Roses” going to Osorno Volcano, by the shore of Llanquihue lake we’ll enjoy the Amazing landscape with the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes, until we get to Ensenada where we start to ascend to the Osorno Centro de Ski y Montaña, located at 1.240 meters (3937 feet). There we will stay about an hour, will be time for sightseeing, take pictures, and appreciate a unique view to the summit of the volcano with glaciers of eternal snow, the Calbuco, Lake Llanquihue Lake and the Pacific Ocean. As an option passenger can take a cup of coffee or sandwich at the coffee shop of the place or take the lift to ascend to 1450 meters altitude in the Station Primavera (Spring) or 1750 meters at Station Glaciar (Glacier) where there is a wonderful and breathtaking views of Lake Llanquihue. (These services are not included in the price of the tour).

Optional 1: Full day Peulla
Our adventure begins in Puerto Varas, from where we will depart towards Petrohué, following a scenic route that winds along the majestic Lago Llanquihue. Along the way, we will enjoy spectacular panoramic views, with the imposing Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes dominating the landscape. Upon reaching the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, we will be amazed by the iconic Saltos de Petrohué, a fascinating natural spectacle where crystal- clear waters flow between volcanic rock formations. Next, we will embark on an exciting journey across Lago Todos los Santos, heading towards the charming Villa Peulla, a true ecological paradise. Here, you can enjoy a delicious lunch at the Hotel Natura Patagonia (optional), and you’ll have the afternoon free to explore this ecotourism haven, ideal for nature and adventure lovers. In the afternoon, we will begin our return to Puerto Varas, sailing once again
on the serene Lago Todos los Santos back to Petrohué.

Optional 2: Half day City tour Puerto Montt & Puerto Varas
We’ll begin the tour visiting the highest place in Puerto Montt city, where we will see the most beautiful view of the city, the ocean and Tenglo Island. From there we’ll go to the German Monument located in the Main Square and the Cathedral, enjoying during the visit the German influence in the architecture of the houses, garden and buildings, and the mix of both cultures. Later we continue going to Angelmó, famous in Chile, because it has many Hand Crafts and Gifts shops, and of course the City Central Market, where we can see how It works one of the principal economic activities, the fishing and sea food, that gets there fresh from the boats to the buyers. Also, here we have typical cooking places, basically are restaurants where you can find sea food, fishes and other delicious specialties of the Chilean cuisine. Along the Pan-American road after 18 km we get to the lovely Puerto Varas, also
known as The City of the Roses, to see the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus built during the year of 1915 to 1918, Baroque Style it’s an exact replica of a church in Black Forest, Germany, from there came some of the colonizers since 1852, The Old Neighborhood, after that we will go to the downtown by the shore of the beautiful Llanquihue lake and depending on weather we will see the Osorno Volcano with its ice melting enhance the water level of the Llanquihue lake.
