6 Days: Bogota & Cartagena

Join SITA as we show you the highlights of Colombia. Colombia straddles both the Pacific and the Caribbean and its people are warm, friendly, and welcoming. Visit the capital city, Bogota. A city tour will take to the historical colonial quarter of La Candelaria, the Plaza de Bolivar, and the Museo del Oro with its collection of pre-Hispanic Indian gold artifacts. Travel to Cartagena on the Caribbean coast, one of the most beautiful and best-preserved ancient cities in the Americas. This old walled city is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Day 1 - Arrive Bogota
You will be met upon arrival at Bogota airport and transfered to your hotel.
Day 2 - Bogota City tour
Enjoy your city tour visiting the famous and well preserved historical colonial quarter of La Candelaria. Walk through the local streets through the library of Luis Angel Arango and down to the prominent Plaza de Bolivar, the heart of Bogota where locals and visitors mingle together surrounded by various historical monuments such as the Cathedral, the Congress Palace, the Cardinal’s Palace, the colonial church of El Sagrario, the House of Independence, the Palace of Justice and the City Hall. Continue further to visit the most important gold museum in the world the Museo del Oro where one of the world’s greatest collection of pre-Hispanic Indian gold artifacts are displayed. The museum also has exhibitions displaying geographical and social aspects of both pre-Columbian and contemporary Colombia. Finally, visit Museuo de Botero, housed in a renovated colonial mansion. Day 3 - Bogota –Cartagena by flight
Departure transfer to airport for your flight to Cartagena. You will be met upon arrival and transfer to your hotel. (B)
Day 4 - Cartagena
After breakfast visit La Popa, Convent of La Candelaria, built in the early seventeenth century on top of the hill with stunning views of the city and the bay. Later head to San Felipe Fort which was built during seventeenth century to protect this city from pirates. Also visit “Las Bóvedas” (The Vaults) which were used as dungeons in ancient times and now are used as shops and craft stores. Continue on to Plaza San Pedro Claver before returning to your hotel. Day 5 - Cartagena.
Day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (B)
Day 6 - Depart Cartagena
You will be assisted and transferred to the airport for your flight to onward destination. (B)
